这一次版本附了一些备考性质和教学研究性质的注解。做出这些注解，是企图使读者能把注意力集中在斯坦尼斯拉夫斯基这部著作的一系列特点上，并且企图表明，这本书里所提到的某条原理在斯坦尼斯拉夫斯基的导演和教学活动的各个不同阶段是怎样演变着的；这本书和斯坦尼斯拉夫斯基在表演技术方面的一些最后的发现之间有着怎样的联系等等。

“可见，”阿尔卡其·尼古拉耶维奇说，“只要你用内心视线看到熟识的环境，你便感到这种环境的气氛，于是和动作地点有关的熟悉的思想便立刻在你心里活跃起来了。从思想上产生了情感和体验，接踵而来的就是内心的动作欲求。
“当你们想起对付疯子的那个习作时，你们用内心视线看见了什么？”阿尔卡其·尼古拉耶维奇问全体学生。
“我看见马洛列特柯娃的住宅和许许多多的年轻人；在客厅里，人们正在跳舞，在饭厅里，人们正在吃晚饭。多么愉快，温暖，欢乐！可是在那大门口的台阶上，却有一个身躯高大、面容憔悴的人，胡子乱蓬蓬的，拖着病人的拖鞋，穿着睡衣，一副受冻挨饿的样子。”苏斯托夫说。
“难道你只看见这个习作的开头部分吗？”阿尔卡其·尼古拉耶维奇对沉默了下来的苏斯托夫问道。
“不，我还看见衣橱，就是我们把它抬去堵门的那个衣橱。我还记得，我怎样在想象中给疯子从那里逃出来的那个医院打电话。”
“你还看见什么呢？”
“说实在话，再没有别的什么了。”
“不好！因为用这样一些细小而琐碎的视象的素材，是不可能给这整个习作创造出一系列不断的视象的。该怎么办呢？”
“应该虚构，补充所缺少的东西，”苏斯托夫提议。
“是的，就是要补充！凡是在作者、导演和演出的其他创作者没有把演员进行创作时所必需知道的一切都表达出来的情况下，永远都应该补充。
“首先，我们需要习作所依据的‘规定情境’的不断的线，其次，我再重说一遍，我们需要跟这些规定情境有关的一系列不断的视象。简单说，我们所需要的不是普通的、而是插画式的规定情境的不断的线，所以永远要好好地记住：你们在舞台上的每一个瞬间，在剧本及其情节的外在或内在发展的每一个瞬间，演员或者是必须看见在他的身外，在舞台上所发生的事情（就是导演、美术设计和演出的其他创作者所创造的外在的规定情境）；或者是必须看见在心里，在演员自己的想象中所发生的事情，也就是说明角色生活的规定情境的那些视象。这一切瞬间，一会儿在我们身外，一会儿在我们心里，形成了视象的内在和外在瞬间的不断的线，就像影片似的。创作延续下去的时候，这种影片也就不断地伸展，在我们内心视觉的银幕上反映出插画式的角色规定情境；演员，角色的扮演者，在舞台上应该是诚心诚意、勤勤恳恳地生活在这些规定情境里的。
“这些视象在你心里造成相应的情绪。它会影响你的心灵，并激起相应的体验。
“不断地去观看内心视象的影片，一方面可以把你约制在剧本生活的范围之内，另一方面可以经常而正确地指引你的创作。
“现在就来谈谈内心视象。内心视象是我们在自己心里感觉到的，这种说法正确不正确呢？我们具有一种能力，能看见事实上并不存在、只能由我们想象出来的东西。来检验我们的这种能力并不困难。就拿枝形挂灯来说吧。它是在我身外的。它是存在的，它存在于物质世界之中。我把‘我的眼睛的触角’——假使可以这样说的话——伸到挂灯上去，我便看到和感觉到它。现在我把目光从挂灯那里引开去，把眼睛闭起来，我要重新看到它——在想象中，‘在回忆中’看到它。为了这，必须把‘我的眼睛的触角’收回到自己心里来，然后再从心里把这触角伸到一种假想的、在我们演员行话里叫做‘我们内心视觉的银幕’那上面去，而不是伸到实物上去。
“这个银幕究竟在什么地方，或者更确切地说，我是在什么地方感觉到它的——是在自己心里呢，还是在自己身外？照我自己的感觉，这个银幕似乎是在我身外的什么地方，是在我面前的一个空空洞洞的空间里。影片似乎就在我心里放映着，但我看到它却是在我的身外映现出来。
为求彻底明白起见，我换几句话，用另一种形式把这问题再谈一下。
我们的视象从我们的内心，从我们的想象中、记忆中迸发出来之后，就无形地重现在我们的身外，供我们观看。不过对于这些来自内心的假想对象，我们不是用外在的眼睛，而是用内心的眼睛（视觉）去观看的。
在听觉方面，情形也是这样。对于假想的声音，我们不是用外在的耳朵，而是用内心的听觉去听的，不过，在大多数场合，我们感觉到这些声音的来源不是在自己心里，而是在自己身外。
“可以换一句话来说明这个道理：假想的对象和形象虽然是在我们身外现出来，却都是先从我们的内心，从我们的想象中和记忆中迸发出来的。我们就用实例把这一切检验一下。”
