Author Description

埃·德·阿米琪斯(1846—1908)，意大利作家，年轻的时候就成了一名步兵军官，著有《军事生活》。曾游历许多国家，发表过《西班牙》《摩洛哥》《君士坦丁堡》等游记。尤以描写家庭生活、学校生活见长，《朋友们》《大家的马车》等作品在意大利脍炙人口；《爱的教育》使他成为世界级的作家。

王干卿(1941—)，河南开封人。1964年毕业于北京广播学院（现中国传媒大学）外语系，进入国家广播电视电影总局工作。曾到意大利罗马大学文学哲学系进修两年，专攻意大利儿童文学。译有《木偶奇遇记》《爱的教育》《智的教育》《淘气包日记》《露着衬衫角的小蚂蚁》《小鬼头历险记》和《意大利童话选》等。曾获“中国少年儿童文学作品译作”一等奖，意大利政府文化奖。

开学的第一天
十七日，星期一
今天是开学的第一天，三个月的乡下假期梦幻般地过去了。今天早晨，当我母亲送我到巴列迪①学校去注册上四年级时，我很不情愿去，总是想着乡间的事情。每条街上都是来来往往的学生。父母们都拥挤在两个文具店里给孩子买书包和作业本。学校门前，早就挤满了人。工友和民警拼命疏导着围得水泄不通的人群。到了校门口，有人拍了一下我的肩膀，我回头一看，哟，原来是我三年级时的老师。这位满头红色鬈发、性情一向爽快的老师对我说：
“恩利科，我们以后永远分别了，是吗？”
我对此心知肚明，然而，他的话还是使我很不好受。我费了九牛二虎之力才挤到学校。贵夫人、先生、普通女人、工人、军官、祖母、女用人都一手领着孩子，一手拿着升级通知书在传达室和楼道里等着，喧哗声此起彼伏，像戏院里一样热闹。今天我重新见到那间连接着七个班级的一楼大接待厅，心里充满着喜悦。三年以来，我几乎每天都经过这里。
大厅里早已人山人海，女教师来来往往，忙个不停。我的二年级女老师在教室门口见到我，跟我打招呼说：
“恩利科，今年你要到楼上去上课，今后我再也见不到你从这里经过了。”说完，她很难过地望着我。
女人们为自己的孩子没有找到座位而焦急不安，围着校长问个不停。
我觉得校长比去年多了些白发，同学们的个子比以前高了，身体更健壮了。一楼的教室早已分好了班，一年级的学生倔强得像一头头驴子，怎么也不肯进教室，家长们必须把他们强拉进去，但转眼之间，一些学生又跑了出来；有的看到家长走了，便忍不住哇哇地哭起来，家长们又得返回来哄他们，或者干脆把他们领回家，弄得老师们也毫无办法。
我弟弟分在女教师德尔卡迪的班里，我分在二楼帕尔博尼老师的班里。十点钟，大家都进入教室。我们班一共有五十四个人，其中十五六个是我三年级的同学，一直得头等奖的德罗西也在我们班。我觉得学校是一块狭窄的天地，憋得难以忍受。因此，我十分向往度假时在山林自由自在玩耍的情景。我还时时想起三年级的老师。他和蔼可亲，平易近人，跟我们说话时总是面带微笑。他身材瘦小，如同我们的同窗好友。从此以后，我再也看不到他和他的红色鬈发了。想到这里，我感到十分惆怅。我现在的老师个子高高的，没有胡子，长长的黑发上添了丝丝灰白，额头上有一道笔直的皱纹，他说话的声音很大很大，一直目不转睛地、一个个地上下打量着我们，好像非得要摸透我们心中所有的秘密才罢休似的，脸上没有一丝笑容。
我心里想：“今天才是第一天，还有九个月呢。多少作业呀。多少考试呀。多少劳累呀。”下课后，我迫不及待地去找正在校门口等我的母亲，跑过去吻她的双手。她对我说：
“恩利科，加油吧，我们会一块儿学的。”我高高兴兴地回到家，但从此以后，我再也见不到我的那位平易近人、笑容满面的三年级老师了，想到这里，我感到“学校”这个词不像以前那样美好了。
