小说首发于《时代文学》，随后被《小说选刊》《中篇小说月报》转载，并被拍成电视剧《五月的鲜花》。

Author Description

钟求是，男，1964年3月生于浙江平阳，毕业于中央民族大学经济系和鲁迅文学院。现居杭州，中国作家协会会员。
1984年7月大学毕业后从事涉外工怍多年，1999年12月调入温州市文联。1985年开始小说创作，至今在《收获》《当代》《十月》《中国作家》等刊物发表中短篇小说数十篇。作品多次被转载，入选多种年度选本。主要作品有《谢雨的大学》《未完成的夏天》《你的影子无处不在》《秦手挺瘦》《雪是最白的纸片》《给我一个借口》《零年代》等。《谢雨的大学》获首届“中篇小说月报”奖、2003－2005年度浙江省优秀文学奖，入选“2003年当代中国文学最新作品排行榜”，并改编为二十八集电视剧《五月的鲜花》。出版有小说集《我的逃亡日子》等。

Book Abstract

中午在食堂打饭，谢雨排在长龙的尾部。窗口还未开启，有人等不耐烦，敲起了饭盒。饭盒声中，龙首部位走出一位胖子男生，大踏步向龙尾走去，在谢雨面前站定了。胖子说，我能帮你打饭吗？谢雨吃惊地瞪着他。胖子说，不行咱俩换一下位。谢雨说，我不认识你，我为什么要跟你换位？胖子说，你不认识我我认识你，你是中文系的谢同学。我要向谢同学表示敬意。谢雨冷了脸不吭声。胖子说，我就想做一点点好事。谢雨说，如果你不想失去我对你的敬意，就从哪儿来回哪儿去。胖子两手一摊，说好吧，又大踏步向龙首走去。
过了几天，班级举行优秀团员评选。这种评选既要民主，又得不到重视，就放在上午第四节课后。下课铃声响起，非团员拿着餐具走了出去，团员们留了下来。留下来的团员们心不在焉，认为应该速战速决。选票发下来，又很快收上去。黑板上出现了团支书的名字，支部委员的名字，接着出现了谢雨的名字。这时，谢雨正埋头看着什么，听到自己的名字，抬头看一眼，知道是有人搞的恶作剧。这个人可能是赵玲玲，也可能是朱古丽或巩莉。谢雨有些后悔刚才没写上她们中的一个。正想着，她的名字又一次响起，并且不愿歇息似的，一次接着一次。她的名下生出一系列“正”字，看上去浩浩荡荡。如果黑板是块田地，所有的人都认定团支书会破土而出，结果长出来的是谢雨。这样的结局颇为喜剧，有人发一声喊，同学们拥出教室。谢雨坐在那里呆了几秒钟，忽然气急败坏。她跳起来追出教室，截住团支书。谢雨说，这次评选是……无耻的。团支书说，你怎么能这么说！谢雨说，不是无耻也是无聊。团支书说，别人都以为我不高兴，想不到你也不高兴。谢雨说我真的不高兴。凭什么选我，我怎么能是优秀团员？团支书笑了说，你为什么不能是优秀团员？你是众望所归呢。谢雨说不要不要不要！
整个下午谢雨都不高兴。傍晚时分，谢雨在寝室里闲聊，敲门走进一男一女两位学生，自称是校广播站的记者，要采访谢雨。房间里的眼睛望向谢雨。谢雨赶紧说，不在不在，谢雨她出去了。记者笑起来说，谢雨在，你就是谢雨。两人就坐在她的对面。谢雨说，你们要问什么？男记者说，你的事迹打动了许许多多的同学，大家都想知道你们的恋爱经过。女记者说，听说你们是青梅竹马，感情是从小时候开始的吗？男记者说，这次你到了前线，心里有什么感想？女记者说，你那位战士伤情如何？什么时候康复？康复了还会上战场吗？谢雨说，你们问完了吗？男记者说，你先说也行。谢雨说，反正我说什么你们也不相信，这样吧，你们在这儿呆着，我从这儿出去。女记者说，我可以理解为你谢绝采访吗？谢雨说你的理解完全正确。她站起身走出了寝室。
第二天傍晚，谢雨从图书馆回宿舍的路上，听到了喇叭广播。喇叭里说着采访侧记什么的，声音高亢而浑浊，似乎与自己有关。谢雨为了听明白些，放慢步子。她听清了一个句子，又听清了一个句子，这些句子说着前线、爱情和谢雨的名字。谢雨心里忽悠一下，像飘过一阵雾。她想这是怎么回事呀？一定要说我吗？不说不行吗？她又想这破喇叭多么难听，是不是刚从浑水里捞出来呀。她停住脚步，要找出那只喇叭的所在，但喇叭的声音来自前后左右，像从每个方向涌来，每个方向又似是而非。
谢雨走进楼门时，喇叭里响起配套的苏联歌曲《小路》。歌曲抒情悠远，有着战火里的忧伤。谢雨伴着乐曲走上二楼阶梯，穿过走道，一把推开寝室的门。这时正是饭前时间，同学们都在房间，她们看见谢雨挺着身子站在门口，大声宣布：今晚我要请客！她的态度看上去那么坚决，不像虚晃一枪。大家欢呼起来。
谢雨们来到校对门一家小餐馆。这家小餐馆开张不久，但很快盖过旁边的国营餐馆，餐厅里总是热热闹闹的。谢雨们围住一张快吃完的餐桌，盯住就餐者的筷子伸出伸进。就餐者不为所动，忙完了筷子，拿着牙签剔牙缝，剔舒坦了，才起身离去。大家坐下来，七嘴八舌讨论菜单，最后说以饺子为主，兼点小菜。这时巩莉问，谢雨你为什么请吃？是因为生日吗？赵玲玲摇摇头。巩莉说，是因为选上优秀团员吗？赵玲玲又摇摇头。巩莉说，赵玲玲又不是你请吃，你摇什么头。赵玲玲说，饭桌上嘴巴是管吃喝，不是用来问话的。大家笑起来，都说是。

Introduction
