《一种美味》：
父亲的请帖乔叶父亲一直是我们所惧怕的那种人，沉默、暴躁、独断、专横，除非遇到重大的事情，否则，很少和我们搭腔。
日常生活里，常常都是由母亲为我们传达“圣旨”，若我们规规矩矩照着办也就罢了，如果有一丝违背，他就会大发雷霆，“龙颜”大怒，直到我们屈服为止。父亲爱我们吗？有时候，我会在心底不由自主地偷偷问自己。他对我们到底是出于血缘之亲而不得不尽点责任和义务，还是有深井一样的爱而不习惯表达或者是不会表达？我不知道。
和父亲的矛盾激化是在谈恋爱以后。
那是我第一次领着男友回家。从始至终，父亲一言不发。等到男友吃过饭告辞时，父亲却对男友冷冷地说了一句：“以后不要来了。” 那时的我，可以忍耐一切，却不可以忍耐任何人轻视我的爱情。于是，我理直气壮地和父亲吵了个天翻地覆。后来才知道，其实父亲对男友并没有什么成见，只是习惯性地摆一摆未来岳父的架子，显示了一下权威而已。在很大程度上，是我的激烈反应大大激化了矛盾，损伤了父亲的尊严。
“你滚！再也不要回来！”父亲大喊。

婚期一天天临近。父亲仍然没有表示让我回家。
