Content Description

明熹宗朱由校（1605—1627年）是明朝第十五位皇帝，年号天启。其父明光宗在位仅29天便因“红丸案”暴毙，朱由校经过“移宫案”的风波，为群臣拥立继位。他在位7年，因嬉乐过度成病（一说曾落水，留下病根），于1627年服用“仙药”而死，终年23岁，谥熹宗，葬于德陵。朱由校有三男两女，无一长成，终无子，遗诏立其五弟朱由检为皇帝，即后来的明思宗崇祯帝。
《木匠皇帝朱由校》以翔实的史料再现朱由校荒诞的一生，还原他由皇长孙至皇长子再至皇帝的过程，重点描绘了他在位7年的历史状况。
同时，书中还对朱由校身边的两个重要人物——－魏忠贤（原名魏进忠）和客氏（朱由校的乳母，人称“天下奶妈”）多有描述，对当时的朝廷重臣、东林党人杨涟、左光斗等进行了刻画，揭示了官场斗争的残酷与惨烈，以及后宫的清冷与凄凉。

《木匠皇帝朱由校》：
第一回皇长孙西苑捕蚂蚱慈庆宫晚膳有佳肴“客奶，你去哪儿？”“撒尿。”“我跟你一起去。”“不行。你先在这儿等着，我一会儿就回来。”“客奶……”被称作客奶的，是当今圣上万历爷的长孙、皇太子朱常洛的长子——朱由校的乳母客氏。今天下午，她领朱由校来西苑玩儿，看到树林间、草丛里有不少蚂蚱，便兴冲冲地捕将起来。朱由校今年12岁，生性顽皮、淘气，只要是玩的，一学即会，捕蚂蚱自然不在话下。他与客氏这里走，那里瞧，小半天的工夫就捕了好多只蚂蚱，用一根细草茎串了。不仅蚂蚱大有斩获，朱由校还捕到了一只蝈蝈，铁皮儿，粉肚儿，膀大翅长，把他高兴得不行。因在来前没想到要玩这出，也没带个笼子或是别的什么家什，他只好像宝贝一样，将蝈蝈小心地装进自己的口袋里。
跟朱由校的年龄一样，客氏进宫已有12个年头了。朱由校自出生起，就由她奶着，照看着。此人性格爽直，大大咧咧，说话做事常常不管不顾，但在西苑这等禁地，她还是有所顾忌的。内急了，只好乖乖地、急呼呼地找茅房去，断不敢随随便便就地解决。这也用不了多长时间，皇家苑囿还是考虑周全的。可没想到，等她回原地后，却不见了朱南校。
“小爷？”客氏喊了一声。在这地方，万不可大声喧哗，只好压低了嗓子。
不见回音。
咦，撒泡尿的工夫，这小子还能跑到哪里去？再喊：“小爷，小爷……”还是没回音。客氏便有些急。想自己这叫干的啥事儿？玩着玩着却丢了孩子。西苑很大，树木多，这要迷路了还行，大不了发动太监宫女们去找，可里面还有北、中、南三海，要是掉进去……客氏越想越怕，“小爷，小爷”，她喊着喊着，到*后带了哭腔。
“嘻嘻，客奶，我在这儿呢。”客氏一回头，发现朱由校就在自己的身后。
“你这死……好孩子，吓死我了，你跑哪儿去了？”她刚要骂声“死孩子”，一想不对，急忙改口，“怎么喊你半天都不答应？”“我一直就跟在你后边呀，你也不知道回头看看。”搞了这么个小恶作剧，朱由校颇为自得。
“老天爷，以后可千万别这样了，吓死我了。走吧，时候不早了，我们得回去了。”’“不行，再玩会儿吧。”“快走，回去晚了，才人娘娘是不骂你，可要骂我了。”客氏不由分说，拉起他就走。
朱由校没办法，只好提着蚂蚱，紧跟着。
“嘻嘻，嘻……”在路上，他一边走一边忍不住地笑。
“笑什么，有什么好笑的？”“哈哈，刚才我看见你撒尿了。”“呸！撒尿有什么好看的？”客氏呸的一声，脸上有些臊。想到自己掀起裙子，褪下裤子，撅着屁股，却遭一个半大小子偷窥，实在是窘。“你……真的看见了？”“真的。你不让我跟着，我就偷偷跟在后面，看见你进了茅房，蹲着撒尿。哈哈哈，你撒尿原来是蹲着。”“我是女的，哪能不蹲着撒？哪像你们男的，站着，多省事。”“喔，原来女的撒尿是蹲着，男的是站着，这就叫男女有别。”朱由校恍然大悟。
