Content Description

《儿女英雄传（套装上下册）》又名《金玉缘》、《日下旧闻》，是中国小说史上最早出现的一部熔侠义与言情于一炉的社会小说。写清初淮安县知县安学海被上司陷害下狱，其子安骥赴京救父，路遇侠女何玉凤，助其摆脱奸人的谋财害命，并且救出民女张金凤，将张嫁与安骥。安学海出狱后，又在豪侠邓九公的帮助下，促成何玉凤嫁与安骥。后安骥在何玉凤、张金凤的督促下，致力仕途经济，位至高官。《儿女英雄传》具有切近世态人情的长处，所谓“描摹世态，曲尽人情”。作者以精细的笔触勾勒出一幅19世纪中国社会风俗画面。更加特别的是，《儿女英雄传》开创了地道的京味，不论叙事语言还是人物语言，都写得鲜活，于俗白中见风趣，俏皮中传神韵。这一点深刻地影响了其后小说的创作，成为京味小说的滥觞。此次出版，校注者不但精心修订增补注释，还精选了石印本插图数十幅，以助阅读。

Author Description

文康，字铁仙，一字悔庵，号燕北闲人。满族镶红旗人。道光初年至光绪初年在世，生卒年未详。他是大学士勒保的孙子，以资为理藩院郎中，出为天津道守，后到安徽凤阳任通判。晚年子孙不肖，家道中落。著有《儿女英雄传》

弥松颐，1939年生于北京。1951年毕业于崇外上堂子胡同小学，1959年毕业于汇文中学，1964年毕业于南开大学中文系。1971-1975年担任人民出版社编辑，1975年后担任人民文学出版社编审。民进会员。中国作家协会会员，中国戏剧家协会会员。1954年开始发表作品，著有专著《儿女英雄传校释》、《春阿氏校注》、《文康生平家世考》、《儿女英雄传作者文康生平家世及其他》、《京味儿夜话》、《双凤村语》等。

《儿女英雄传（套装上下册）》：
大抵那运气循环，自有个消长盈虚的定数；就是天，也是给气运使唤①着，定数所关，天也无从为力。照这样讲起来，岂不是好人也不得好报，恶人也不得好报，天下人都不必苦苦的作好人了？这又不然。在那等伤天害理的，一纳头的作了去，便叫作“自作孽，不可活”，那是一定无可救药的了；果然有些善根，再知悔过，这人力定可以回天，便教作“天作孽，犹可违”。何况安老爷这位忠厚长者呢！看不得他飞的不高，跌的不重，须知他苦的不尽，甜的不来，这是一。
再说，安老爷若榜下不用知县，不得到河工；不到河工，不至于获罪；不至获罪，安公子不得上路；安公子不上路，华苍头不必随行；华苍头不随行，不至途中患病；华苍头不患病，安公子不得落难；安公子不落难，好端端家里坐着，可就成不了这番“英雄儿女”的情节，“天理人情”的说部。列公，却莫怪说书的饶舌。
闲话休提。却说那河台一面委员摘去安老爷的印信，一面拜发折子，由马上飞递而来。不过五六天就得见面，当朝圣人爱民如子，一见河水冲决，民田受害，龙颜大怒，便照折一道旨意，将安学海“革职拿问，带罪赔修”。这个旨意从内阁抄了出来，几天儿工夫，就上了京报，那报房里便挨门送看起来。
安公子虽是闭门读书，不问外事.早有那些关切些的亲友得了信，遣人前来探听。也有说白来看看的，也有说打听任上一向有无家信的，却都不肯明说。这日，有向来拜从安老爷看文章的一位梅公子——也是个世家——前来看望。见了安公子，便问：“老师这一向有信么？”安公子说：“便是许久没接着老人家的谕帖了。”梅公子又问说：“也没听见甚么别的事呀？”安公子见他问的奇怪，连忙答说：“无所闻。这话从何问起？”梅公子道：“昨日听见个朋友讲起，说老师在河工上有个小小的罣误，却也不知其详。要是吏部认得人，何不托人打听打听，见了原奏，就可知道详细了。”安公子听说，惊疑不定，要着人到乌宅打听。偏偏的乌大爷新近得了阁学钦差，往浙江查办事件去了，别处只怕打听得不确，转致误事。
当下那程师爷在坐，便说道：“吏部有我个同乡，正在功司，等我去找他问问，就便托他抄个原奏的底子来看看，就放心了。”说着，连忙起身，进城去打听。随后梅公子也就告辞。安公子急得热锅上蚂蚁一般，一夜也不曾好生得睡。
直到次日晌午，那程师爷才赶回来。一见公子，便说：“事体却不小，幸喜还不碍。”说着，从怀里把那抄来的原奏掏出来，递给公子阅看。只见上面的出语写的是：“请旨革职拿问，带罪赔修，俟该参员果否能于限内照数赔缴，如式修齐，再行奏闻请旨。”公子看完，那程师爷又说道：“据部里说，只要银子赔完，工程报竣，还可以送部引见。照这案情，大约没有个不开复的，只不晓得老翁任所打算得出许多银子来不能？”公子道：“老人家带的盘缠本就无多，自己又是一文不要的，纵然有几两养廉，这几个月的日用，两三番的调任，大约也用完了。任上一时那里弄得出五六千银子来？家中又别无存项。偏乌克斋又上了浙江，如果他在京，大约弄个两三千金还容易。这便如何是好？”说着，便急得泪流不止。程师爷连忙说：“世兄，你且不要烦恼，等咱们大家慢慢计议出个道理来。”公子说：“我的方寸已乱，断无道理可计议了！”
