汇款业务
仔细考虑如何将你的钱从本国转入你英国的账户。不同的汇款方法花费的时间和产生的费用差别很大。每次要兑换货币时你都得付出点代价。花些时间好好想个最适合你的最省钱的方法。每次转账的票据要保留好，以备不时之需。
银行转账比较快，一般只需几个工作日。要确保你在国内的开户行拥有跨国转账业务。开设好英国银行账户就可以联系你在国内的开户行了。来英国的时候最好带上你在国内的银行业务合同以及账户明细。另外要仔细查看汇款的收费情况。
你可以在国内开具银行汇票，然后存人你在英国的银行账户。如果已经兑换成英镑，转账速度会很快并且不收取费用。但是如果是其他币种，你就需要支付额外的费用了，此外转账过程可能要耗时一个月甚至更长。你原来国家的私人支票要兑现，也一样要付费并且花上这么久时间。旅行支票可以在银行网点或者外币兑换点兑现，也可以直接存入你的账户。但是如果旅行支票的币种不是英镑，也还是需要付一些费用的。如果你的信用卡在英国可以用，你就能用它来取钱或者转钱到新账户里，用的时候记得查看下手续费。当然，英国也不乏像西联汇款、速汇金等汇款公司，他们的转账速度非常快，但手续费也比较高昂。
保险
在英国留学期间，购买保险是很必要的。根据你的个人情况，你可能会需要购买旅游保险，家庭财产险以及医疗保险。详情请参见第186页。
家庭
英国对欧盟的学生在读书期间携带家属没有任何限制。新签证政策的实施意味着对于首次申请签证的留学生，要符合以下条件才能携带家属陪读，一是申请研究生及以上学历的学习并且学习课程时间为一年以上学生，二是享受政府津贴的海外留学生。硕士以上学历指在英国国家资历框架内7级以上（苏格兰是11级）的课程学习。所有成年陪读家属都有在当地工作的权利。
如果你想把孩子带去英国，你可以跟当地政府交涉，寻找一所合适的学校让他就读。如果你住在该地区比较久，那么你的孩子是必须上学的。大多数地区都有5岁以下幼儿保育服务的相关信息，当地也会有各种团体以及活动可供为家长参加。陪读儿童若未满19岁可以获准在英国生活。那么你应该想方设法让他们就读主流教育机构，在英国5～18岁的教育是免费的。3～5岁的孩子的早期教育会收取一部分费用，照顾3岁以下的孩子是需要收费的。
如果你的课程时间超过6个月（享受英国政府助学津贴的留学生没有时间限制），你的配偶在陪读期间可以享受一些免费NHS医疗待遇。如果你的孩子在16岁以下+（如果还在接受全日制教育的，年龄限制可以延长到19岁），也可以享受这个待遇。苏格兰地区所有全日制的学生和他们的陪读家属都可以享受免费医疗，没有学习时间长度的限制。
另外，你还应尽快调查并落实好住宿问题。学校提供给在英留学生的房子不多，适合全家居住的房子更加稀有。你可以考虑下租住私房。需要签证才能获准人英的留学生需要在入境以前就安排好住宿问题。如果没有住址证明，英国边境移民署的官员可能会拒绝你和你的家人进入英国。
