白朴，金末元初人，祖籍奥州（今山西河曲）。
元代杂剧家，曲作家，文学家，与关汉卿、郑光祖、马致远并称“元曲四大家“；为传统宋词向早期元曲过渡“初为元曲之始”的开派式文学戏剧巨匠与爱国诗人。白仁甫之词，如鹏抟九宵。风骨磊块，词源滂沛。若大鹏之起北溟，奋翼凌乎九宵，有一举万里之志，宜冠于首。（朱权《太和正音谱》）中国古代历史文学作品四大悲喜剧中，白朴作品各居其一：《唐明皇秋夜梧桐雨》为四大悲剧之一；《裴少俊墙头马上》为四大喜剧之一。白朴的词流传至今一百余首，多以咏物与应酬为主，其作品歌词典雅，属于文采派。杂剧有十六种，刊行词集《天籁集》。

Book Abstract

《白朴传》：
六十年后，元至元二十九年（1292年），白朴怀着循旧追忆的心情走进广袤空旷的西湖时，梦境中的荡漾碧波不再，绝秀山水不再，旖旎风光不再，让他陡觉失望。那年，隆冬的杭州降了有史以来最大的一场雪。与飞雪携手而至的是刺骨的寒流，与寒流并肩而来的是无尽的怅闷和凄楚。怅闷和凄楚让年近古稀的白朴倏然感到不可思议的难释憋屈。憋屈从那个美丽的传说开始，从演绎数百年之久的白娘子与许仙的凄美爱情故事而来；演绎这故事的断桥此时完全被厚厚的积雪覆盖，视野中的断桥成了一座完整的桥。不知何故，须发皆白的白朴突然感觉到完整的断桥在眼中成了座“残桥”，完美的爱情故事似乎不应该发生在畅通无阻的人生大路上，世上任何畅通无阻最终都将流于世俗，难留踪痕。
断桥边有尊石碾，青年时代的白朴第一次来到名震天下的西湖，走累了走乏了走得腰酸腿疼，与友人们就坐在这尊石碾上，边欣赏处处都是美景的西湖边兴奋地搜索着描绘美景最适合的词句。那时年轻气盛，那时青春永驻，那时人生璀璨，他和他的友人们盘坐在巨大的石碾上，跷起二郎腿，悠闲而充满自信，大有恨不得将人世美景拥进胸腹之中的气度。
眼前飞雪弥漫，湖山遁隐，熟悉的身影消失在白茫茫的雪幕中，非但把酒推盏、吟诗弄曲的友人们消失了，彻彻底底地从这个世界上以来不及忧伤的速度消失了，而且包括他仁和慈爱的母亲张氏，父亲白华，至亲元叔，还有启迪和影响他青年时代创作走向、丰富整个人生基调的一大群“封龙旧识”，好像就在昨天，一个接一个熟悉的音容笑貌还在耳畔回响，现在，却瞬间化作白雾。
对那时的白朴而言，人生最大的馈赠除了回忆一无所有。回忆对生者既是财富也是煎熬，距离人生终点那段即便是神仙都无法预测的旅途，它必将展开锯齿般锋利的尖刃，毫不怜惜地撕扯着白朴皱褶丛生的皮肤、凄楚苦伤的心灵，那些在充满激情的年代仿佛永远遥不可及的痛苦在西湖边飞雪的寂静午后骤然降临了。一度自诩为阅尽人间劫难和坎坷、早已宠辱不惊、早已心定气闲的白朴猝不及防地感觉到铺天盖地的莫名恐惧。恐惧让他瞬间体验到人世痛苦的根源非在贫穷落魄，非在颠沛流离，非在生离死别，而在孤独。
始料未及的孤独所带来的恐惧让白朴长叹一声，目光透过纷飞的白雪世界，缓缓停留在半空中隐约浮现出的那张揪扯了整整一生的笑脸上。母亲在飞雪的远方天际向他微笑，不可否认，微笑给予白朴这辈子的不是安慰，不是温情，却是隐隐的耻辱。耻辱与母亲无关，耻辱来自于突然张开来将所有人都罩住的大网。大网里，狼烟四起，杀声震天。
白朴，字太素，号兰谷，初名恒，字仁甫，小名铁山，隩州（山西省河曲县南）人氏，出生于金朝正大三年（1226年），卒年可考证为金至大三年（1310年）之后，是年白朴八十五岁，之后史无载。
六十年后，当白朴坐在西湖断桥边的石碾上，沐浴在白茫茫的雪雾中，再次努力复原母亲昔年的音容，再次回想起许多年前那个艳阳高照的午后，那个拉着母亲的手步履匆匆行走在南京城通秀河畔的日子。
白朴清楚地记得，那个午后的通秀河两岸曾经郁郁葱葱的杨树柳树颓败失色，河道里曾经清澈见底、鱼虾畅游的景象不见了，沟渠里塞满污泥破絮烂树，散发着扑鼻恶臭的老鼠野猫死狗尸体，恶心得让人作呕。母亲张氏紧紧拉着白朴和姐姐的手，急匆匆地走过通秀河破烂不堪的石桥。
