在哈罗兹堡——曾被称作哈罗德要塞——曾经有个名叫安·麦金蒂的女人。据史书记载，安和她的丈夫是最早将猪、鸭和手纺机带到肯塔基州的；而且人们还说，安是在那落后、荒蛮的土地上做出黄油的第一个女人。但是，安的出名却源于这样一件事：她创造了一个经济和纺织的奇迹。在那个古老而神秘的印第安乡间，没有人种植棉花，也买不到棉花，而豺狼又把绵羊给吃了个精光，因此织布的原材料压根儿就找不到。然而，聪明绝顶的安·麦金蒂居然想出了一个纺线和制作“麦金蒂布”的好办法：利用荨麻棉和水牛毛这两种廉价而且随处可见的东西。

这是其中的一个通奸案。1789年11月24日，大陪审团做了如下记录：“露西·汉克斯，通奸罪。”
这已经不是露西第一次被定罪。她的第一次是在数年之前，在弗吉尼亚州。
