Author Description

陈廷一，出生于1947军1月，河南省鹿邑县人，军旅出身，吉林大学中文系毕业。
现任中国国土资源作家协会副主席，原任中国大地出版社副总编辑、编审，国主资源部高级职称评委，享受国务院特殊津贴专家。中国作家办会会员，北京市作家协会会员，北京市华人文化研究院研究员，中国报告文学学会理事，中国~传记文学学会理事，中国通俗文艺研究会常务理事，国内著名畅销书作家，传记文学界有“南叶北陈”的说法和“传记大王”的称号。2005年荣获中国忧秀传记文学作家“十佳”称号。

离开石门镇，是在一个朝霞满天的早晨
再见了，石门。
再见了，故乡。
再见了，朋友。
1903年3月上旬的一天。
也就是弟弟陈其采留日回国的第二年，陈其美终于捺不住“善长典”铺的单调和寂寞，走出了当铺的高墙，去寻求自己的理想。
早上八点，他登上了首班去上海的小火轮，心情澎湃着。
应该说这是他第一次出门远行。
本来，当铺老板娘还一再强留，请他再考虑一下，他说决心已定。
老板娘又说：如果你真的决心已定，那十二年的学徒白学啦，你不觉得可惜？
陈其美再次摇摇头。
老板娘推心置腹地说：本来我打算下个月，就给你升级，增加你的薪水。
陈其美说：那就谢谢啦。
望着执意要离开的陈其美，老板娘一脸的无奈。
最后，老板娘不再挽留，倒与他谈起了心：辞了职，准备到哪里去？他说他想到上海去求学，那里的学校已经说妥。老板娘说，求学已过了学龄。老板娘又问：谁为你牵的线？陈其美说：我的表叔杨信之。老板娘笑了：杨老板不也是咱们湖州的名人！陈其美说对了。老板娘说：如果是杨信之，我们还沾边亲哩，那我就让账房给你结账好不好？陈其美说：那太好啦。
老板娘一共给陈其美结算了四年零三个月的工资，共计三百七十块大洋。这些大洋就在他身旁的旅行包里。陈其美在美美地合计着，如果说商校每年一百大洋的学费，三年再打打工，可以顺利地实现毕业。陈其美边合计边又紧盯了眼旅行包。他伸手摸了摸，那大洋还在。因为它是他的希望所在。
天渐渐下起了雨。陈其美把脸贴近窗子，向远方望去。天水一色，水雾茫茫。20米开外就看不见东西了。陈其美把脸转过来，正好撞到对面座位上的一个年轻貌美的姑娘，穿了一身学生装，一笑两个酒窝。姑娘望着迎来的目光，开言了：先生，你要到上海去？
陈其美点点头：小姐，我看你像位学生？
姑娘笑了：好眼力。我是女师的。那你是——陈其美接过来说：我去读商校。
陈其美又说：我们认识一下，你贵姓？
姑娘说：我姓陈，喊我陈郁小姐就可以了。那你——陈其美说，我也姓陈。家是湖州的。
姑娘说：我也是湖州的。
陈其美说：我有异乡遇故知的感觉。
姑娘说：我也一样。
陈其美望了一下窗外，说：啊哟！雨又下大了。
他们隔着窗子望去，风也猛了，雨点大如豆粒，打在船舱的玻璃上，噼啪作响。不一会儿，他们发现雨水流进了船舱里，自己的脚下都有了水。
陈小姐惊叫说：你的旅行包那儿上水了！
陈其美弯下身子，取出旅行包放在头顶的行李箱里。然后又去清理脚下的积水，一直到雨渐渐地小起来，最后不下了。
他们乘坐了9个小时的船，在上海的十六铺码头靠了岸。
落日的晚霞，映衬出大上海的美丽。
上海的居民建筑都是石库门，这也是江南一带常见的建筑样式。石库门里有许多悠长的弄堂。这里东临黄浦，西逼城池，码头周边，大小店铺鳞次栉比，货栈、客栈、洋房、商行、烟馆、妓院、茶楼、酒店，令人眼花缭乱。尤其是码头旁那座高楼，让他数了半天层数。上海啊，真大真高！这是陈其美走进大上海的第一感觉。
在码头上，他与陈郁小姐分手后，陈小姐先打了一辆黄包车走了。而陈其美因是初到上海，他还等着杨信之表叔来接。此时，一个晃晃闪亮的东西映在了他的眼前，他走出十步远，伸手捡到那个东西，定睛一看时，是一个人时的绿宝石水晶钻戒。好漂亮啊，他的心在跳！
