Author Description

记忆中的人生第一幕镜头，是在台北艋胛（现今的万华区）的巷子里。一个身穿旗袍、身形婀娜的女子，从远处缓缓走来，不时还东张西望，像是怕被人瞧见似的。走到大肥嬷（台湾话）面前，那名年约二十多岁的女子迅速将钱塞给大肥嬷，转身摸摸我的头，就匆忙离开，徒留一堆问号在我的小小脑袋里。“大肥嬷，那是谁啊？”有几次．我曾试着开口问，却始终得不到明确答案。后来我才知道，那个妙龄女子是我的妈妈，怪的是，我却只能叫她“阿姨”。我也有好几个兄弟姊妹，但因为不曾同住一个屋檐下，我和他们之间的关系，陌生得像是生活中擦身而过的路人。从有记忆开始，我就是跟外婆，也就是“大肥嬷”一起生活。从称谓就不难想象大肥嬷的身材．矮矮胖胖的她，眯眯眼，一头短发，说起话来嗓门非常大，经常露出整排银色的假牙。和繁华的艋舟甲比起来，我和大肥嬷住的三重，简直像是落后边境。我们住的地方是分租来的，一楼店面住着一户人家，我和大肥嬷住在阁楼，两三坪（台湾地区常用建筑面积单位，台坪=3.3057平方米）的空间里只有一些简单的家具，连张床都没有，只能睡在冷冰冰的地板上。外公过世得早，我和大肥嬷相依为命。四五岁时我就得开始帮忙烧火煮饭，当时没有瓦斯，我都是用火柴先将报纸点燃，再丢进煤炭里面，所以要一直煽、一直煽，每次起一个火都要起很久。烧火煮饭和烧洗澡水，是我每天最常做的两件事，所以我对自己小时候的印象就是一直在烧火。我还记得有一次，要把锅端起来的时候，突然被烫个正着，一失手把整锅饭都打翻了，大肥嬷发现了，拿起藤条就是一阵毒打。还记得当时的我，强忍着痛，内心却不停地哭喊：“妈妈，你在哪里？”身世破碎，像一张不完整的拼图从小，我就很懂得看脸色。从大肥嬷的心情好坏，我就知道那一天好不好过。大肥嬷喜欢赌博，只要她哼着歌走进家门，我就知道她今天手气好．赢了不少钱，这时大肥嬷就会掏钱给我，说：“来，这些钱拿去附近的杂货店买米酒，回来时顺便买两只鸡腿。”接过钱后，我边走边跳地往巷子口的杂货店奔去。若要问我，和大肥嬷一起生活最快乐的记忆是什么？大概就是这个时候吧！在那个餐桌上几乎都只有白米饭配菜脯（萝h干）的日子，一只鸡腿是极奢侈的享受。大肥嬷若是输了钱，回到家还是一样会要我去杂货店买米酒，至于鸡腿，想都别想，没挨打就算不错了！因为大肥嬷喝醉了之后，不是把我痛打一顿，就是骂说为什么要带我这个扫把星，有时还会夹杂许多不堪入耳的脏话。赌博这种事通常都是“十赌九输”，就不难想见我是乐少苦多了！长大后我常回想，大肥嬷的愤世嫉俗，大概是和她坎坷的命运有关。大肥嬷结婚后一直膝下无子，好不容易抱来了一个养女，也就是我的妈妈，没多久就碰到丈夫过世。大肥嬷独自一人将我的妈妈带大，没想到我妈在十八岁那一年，就当了我爸爸的小老婆。也因此，每次喝醉酒，大肥嬷会当着我的面咒骂说：“养你妈妈没用啦！嫁给人家当小老婆，还把你丢给我照顾……”大肥嬷无情的话和喜怒无常的生活，是我破碎身世的第一块拼图。为什么我要叫自己的妈妈为“阿姨”？为什么其他兄弟姊妹都可以和爸妈同住，唯独我被丢给大肥嬷照顾？一连串的疑问，慢慢在我幼小的心灵浮现。P22-25
