Book Abstract

书信是钱学森和同道探讨学术问题，指导年轻学者研究工作的一种重要方式。几十年来，钱学森一直坚持用工整的字迹与他的学术同道和来信求教的青年信件交流，与他们探讨各种学术问题，帮助他们提炼思想、指明方向。在全国各地和各个行业难以计数的有作为的科研人员和学者，都曾受益于他的教诲和培养。

钱学森非常喜爱通过通信来进行学术讨论，他晚年几乎将此当作一项事业，与国内很多科学技术工作者和文化学术工作者进行广泛的通信讨论。而且他写信有一个鲜明的特点，那就是在上世纪90年代以前的通信手稿全部是16开无格白纸，后来用A4型白纸，一丝不苟地工整书写。书写讲究布局，字间行距有致，字迹清晰规范，很少看到有涂改痕迹。从硬笔书法的角度看，钱学森的每一封信都是值得珍藏的书法艺术品。

在这些书信中，钱学森提出了许多开创性的学术观点和学术思想。如果按学科领域对钱学森与其合作者的通信加以系统的整理研究，不仅可以看出钱学森各个时期学术思想形成和发展的过程，还可以发现钱学森及其合作者们许多重要研究成果是通过学术通信形成的。

1983年3月14日，钱学森在人体科学开班式上的报告中谈道：“我对人民来信也很尊重，我发现人民来信中尽管有的时候提的问题不对，但是你在读他这个不对的信的时候，你脑子开动了，有时候这可以使你通过这个不对的东西而得到一个对的东西。你更清楚了，这个不对，那什么对呢？是不是这样的呢？我现在常常收到一些信，讲永动机的可多了，净是发明永动机的，有的发明的永动机还挺巧的。你说的是永动机，要把它说清楚还不容易，那么你在不容易当中是不是要动脑筋呢？最后你对他这个永动机算是搞清楚了为什么不行。所以，不是不对的东西都是有害的，我说在科学讨论中不对的东西也有贡献。”

科学作为一种社会现象，不论是科学家个人的认识，还是科学共同体的远行，都是一个社会过程。从社会学的角度来看，科学最重要的社会过程之一是科学交流。按照美国社会学家门泽尔的说法，科学家之间的书信和出版物以及科学情报工作本身，都是科学交流的基本过程。随着社会的不断发展，科学交流的范围是很广泛的。
