基础工具与材料
在你刚开始制作首饰的时候，你只需要一点儿工具和材料。这四页展示了主要的工具，当你需要的时候再购买它们，开始时没必要拥有所有工具。
尽管这项工作可以在厨房中进行，但你也应该拥有一个专用的工作区域。这个工作区域最好在某种程度上与外界隔离封闭或是安全的。因为你将使用的一些工具和化学溶液在一些不懂的人手中可能是很危险的。

小台钳（2）：
一旦将小台钳牢固地拧紧固定在工作台上，一个台钳就有了几十种用途，包括紧紧夹住工件前面、弯曲工件成合适的角度、锉磨金属时稳固地夹紧金属、夹紧板材以方便画标记线。操作时，最好使用台钳上面的安全钳口以保护金属表面不被划伤。
木戒指夹（1）：
有着皮革夹口的木戒指夹用来牢固安全地夹住工件而不破坏金属工件的表面。
平行钳（3）：
这种钳子前面有开放的平行钳口，不像其他钳子的前端是闭合状的，所以它能用来夹持工件操作而不会破坏工件。
圆规（下图）：
不锈钢圆规用于各种尺寸的绘图。它可以多次用来确定同一尺寸。比如，为准确切割同等长度的一小段金属丝而做标记，还可以用于其他的制图。
钢尺（5）：
一把同时带有公制与英制标准尺寸的钢尺是不可或缺的工具。
戒指度量环（4）：
这是一串用来测量戒指尺寸的便利钢圈（指环尺寸A～Z）。

在焊接技术方面也有了一些新发展，比如微焊机和激光焊机的使用。微焊机可以产生一个非常小的火焰，用来焊接一些棘手的地方；激光焊机最精彩的地方是能够做一个连接而不必担心会产生火焰。但这些焊接技术的缺点在于成本较高，需要花费大量金钱，所以，只在大规模生产时才会真正被用到。
