小时候，设计对我来说是一种单纯的快乐：描摹令人心动的形态，记录天马行空的想法，或者演绎突如其来的灵感。

如果把设计作为一种爱好，则尽可以享受慢慢找寻，甚至等待灵感的过程；但如果你希望成为一名职业设计师，就必须面对我所说的种种挑战。这时候，选择合适的设计方法并灵活运用就成为关键。好的方法能帮你更有效地获取信息，产生洞见；能帮你把无法在脑中清晰展开的问题变成可以直观剖析的图表；能帮你的团队达成高效的协作，让团队力量更好地展现……即使是在寻找灵感的过程中，设计方法也能帮你摆脱无力感。虽然设计方法无法直接告诉你灵感在哪里，但它能告诉你应该尝试哪几个方向、解决方案会在哪个范围出现。设计方法不能直接给你洞察力和创造力，却能帮你更有效地获得洞察力和创造力，从而创作出优秀的设计作品。
