思考力≠聪明

亲爱的读者们，你们有没有想过什么是思考力？

一般来说，对于学校里表现突出以及考试成绩名列前茅的学生，我们都会称赞他们聪明。不可否认，这种实现力确实是聪明的一个侧面，然而，它只不过是当今社会实际要求我们具备的能力之中的一小部分而已。

我们再来谈思考力。思考力的表现形式有很多。比如，解决迄今为止无人能解的难题，研发出市面上从未出现的具有跨时代意义的商品，灵活果断地应对环境变化的能力等，这些能力统统属于思考力的范畴。思考力是发明创造不可或缺的能力。然而，这种能力却不能通过普通意义上的考试来衡量，它属于人类的另外一种能力。

本书中探讨的思考力，指的就是这种能力。

被称作历史上最伟大的物理学家的爱因斯坦曾经说过：

“It’snotthatI’msosmart,it’sjustthatIstaywithinproblemslonger.”（并非我头脑聪明，只不过是我在问题的研究上花了比别人更多的时间。）

“Ihavenospecialtalent.Iamonlypassionatelycurious.”（我没有特殊的天赋，我只是拥有旺盛的好奇心。）

爱因斯坦并没有把自己划在聪明人的行列之中。你不觉得不可思议吗？然而，这并非是他的自谦之说，而是他在完全了解自己的基础之上得到的深刻体悟。

年轻时的爱因斯坦并非我们眼中无所不能的优秀人才。他在考试落榜之后，并没有立志成为一名伟大的物理学家，甚至在教授眼中毫无才能的他连留在大学里做助教的机会都没捞到。在找工作上，爱因斯坦也遇到过诸多不顺，他曾经以做家庭教师等各类兼职谋生，最后在朋友的帮助下，终于谋得了一个在专利局工作的机会。

在这种情况之下，一般人都会丧失成为大学教授的斗志，然而，爱因斯坦并没有忘记他的初衷，他选择锲而不舍地将钻研进行到底。

爱因斯坦被世人所知的时候，并非其在高等学府求学之时，而恰好是他在专利局工作的时候。1905年，他一股脑儿发表了5篇论文。这些论文中提到的光量子假说、布朗运动理论以及狭义相对论等，无一不是具备诺贝尔奖分量的、具有跨时代意义的重大发现。时至今日，1905年仍然被称作世界物理学史上的爱因斯坦奇迹年。在做狭义相对论的论文时，爱因斯坦甚至还未考取物理学博士。

考试失利，大学留校未果，为就业辛苦奔波，甚至在教授眼中“毫无才能”，这样的一个年轻人，是如何成为世界上最伟大的物理学家之一的？

在他的反面，还有这样一些事例。

在校成绩优异，在应试的大潮中，从千军万马的独木桥上一路拼杀过来的精英们终于跨进了名牌高校的大门。然而这些精英一旦离开大学踏入社会，便很快沦落成社会浪潮中平庸的一员。那些学生时代的佼佼者常常终其一生无任何重要的研究成果。虽然听起来让人感到遗憾，但此类例子却不胜枚举。

另一方面，学生时代成绩平平，也没什么突出特长的学生，有的能在社会上呼风唤雨，有的则能拿出让人欣羡的研究成果。

这两者之间的不同来自哪里？它的关键在于思考力，以及永不言弃的精神。

爱因斯坦在学业上并非成绩拔尖，也并不受瞩目。然而，他却具备真正意义上的思考力。并且，在大多数人都会退缩不前的困难面前，他没有放弃，而是选择逆流而上。

学业成绩和思考力，这两者看起来是相关的，却完全是两回事。而想要成就一番大事，永不言弃的精神至关重要。

以我多年来在科研领域的学习与研究，我深刻地体会到，大多数人对思考力的认知并不正确。我认为，通过有意识的训练，思考能力是可以被锤炼出来的。而我写作本书的目的，就是为了给大家提供一套系统性地培养思考能力的方法。
这本小册子得以在中国出版，我感慨良多。这是因为，当我对自己的生活和工作方式，乃至对自己的人生感到苦恼的时候，能够给予我慰藉、让我思考的都是《史记》《论语》《孟子》《道德经》《孙子兵法》等中国古代圣贤的著作。这些经典对人性的本质进行了淋漓尽致的描写，值得我们一读再读，而我从每一次重新阅读中，都能够获得不一样的知识与体悟。然而，即使是这些经典读物，也并没有告诉我们，到底应该如何培养思考能力。从这个意义上看，我其实也是将这本书作为一份“回礼”，来回报所有的中国朋友，这么多年来我吸取了如此多的中国智慧，这一次我终于能够将自己在如何培养思考力上的思考作为回报分享给所有中国朋友了。
我深深地感到，没有比这更幸福的事了。
