熬过残酷就能看到光明逆境，我觉得应该对它有个客观的认识，因为它有它积极的一面。这个逆境，一般人认为它是个坏事，的确总的来说是个坏事，但它也有很积极的一面。
古人说，失败是成功之母。这确实是经过大量的案例总结出来的。段总(指段永基)以前跟我说过，成功的时候总结的经验是扭曲的，失败的时候总结的教训才是真实的。细细一想，很有道理。
——史玉柱在《史玉柱自述：我的营销心得》中如是写道背景分析 1996年，因为史玉柱错误地估计了巨人大厦的资金实力，加上盲目寻求多元化发展战略，集团内部出现了严重的财务危机，巨人大厦一期工程未能如期完成。之前，史玉柱一直坚持不向银行贷款，而是以卖楼花的方式积累了4000万元，作为巨人大厦盖楼的初始资金。此时，债主们都讨上门来，要求史玉柱立即还款。巨人早就因为内部经营管理不善多次出现财务危机，问题没有得到解决，堆积如山。如今，债权人们又一起来声讨史玉柱，巨人集团正面临前所未有的危机。
史玉柱不得不承认，巨人的事业已经跌入谷底，错过了向银行贷款的*佳时机。面对上门讨债的人，他束手无策，也无可奈何。1929年10月24日，在华尔街崩盘时，不少股票大亨选择以结束生命的方式来面对危机。史玉柱却从来没有考虑过这种**的方式，他决定熬。他熬过了蜂拥而至的债主，熬过了巨人工程戛然而止的心痛，熬过了负债2.5亿元的绝望。后来，他不仅还清了全部的欠款，还再次让巨人以科技公司的新面貌重新走入人们的视野。
在残酷的逆境中，史玉柱简单地信奉着这一个字——熬。他知道，无论多么艰难，总有熬出头的一天。

我十八年前下海时，26周岁，和在座的大部分人年龄也都差不多，然后从啥也不懂摸爬滚打到今天。
