《心理治疗入门》是巴史克医师一系列有关心理治疗著作在国内的第三本中文译著，就年代来讲，《Doing Psychotherapy》（1980，《心理治疗实战录》，张老师文化出版，1985年11月，吕绍文医师译）是第一《心理治疗入门》，接下来是横跨15年后的《Doing Brief Psychotherapy》（1995，《10倍速疗法——短期心理治疗实战录》，张老师文化出版，1988年9月，易之新医师译），《心理治疗入门》则介于其间，是巴史克医师比较早期（1988）所与的书，也是关于其心理治疗的理论与概念最重要的一《心理治疗入门》。有关巴史克医师本人的介绍，读者可以参看同一译者的一本译著，即《10倍速疗法——短期心理治疗实战录》的序言。

巴史克（Michael Franz Basch），美国Rush医学院的精神医学教授、芝加哥心理分析中心的训练及督导分析师，也是Michael Reese医院暨医学中心的精神主治医师。重要的著作有《心理治疗实战录》、《十倍速疗法》以及本书。

Book Abstract

虽然艾洞怒先生和欧真豪医师都能敞开自己接受心理治疗的帮助，但这并不意味所有病人都准备好了，可以让治疗师这么快速有效的介入。劳梭步太太（Alice Senoj）就是无法马上帮助她的例子，治疗师费了九牛二虎之力才从做决定这个层面切入她发展的螺旋性循环中。
许多研究都显示因为身体的不舒服（somatic complaint）来找医生的病人中，有60%—80%是因为心理因素造成的。如果第一线的医生懂一点心理治疗技巧的话，将能减轻病人许多不必要的痛苦，更能减少许多检查所浪费的时间和金钱。劳梭步太太这个例子就是明证，治疗她的并不是专业的心理治疗师，而是一位家庭医师。
这位医师找我讨论劳太太的病情，她当时46岁，因为每天觉得头痛，吃药房买的止痛药也毫无效果，家庭医师为她做了详细的身体检查后，和病人有如下的对话，我根据这位医师的描述忠实记录如下，并加上我个人的看法：
医：劳太太，我检查的结果显示你的身体状况基本上很健康，头痛可能是某些压力或紧张所造成的。
当身体检查和基本的检验显示并没有身体方面的问题时，医生避免说“你一点问题也没有”，反而认同她有头痛，但是另有原因，这种状态下，通常会发现病人不只能了解疼痛是心理压力造成的，甚至会听到病人去谈压力的来源，因为医生这样说就隐含了请病人谈一谈压力的意思。
