Author Description

古斯塔夫·勒庞，（1841-1931），法国著名社会心理学家、社会学家、群体心理学的创始人，以对群体心理特征的研究而闻名于世，被后人誉为“群体社会的马基雅维利”。勒庞早年在巴黎学医，并获得了博士学位，毕业后周游列国，晚年开始研究心理学，并在19世纪与20世纪之交写下了一系列心理学著作，如《各民族进化的心理学规律》、《法国大革命和革命心理学》、《战争心理学》等，其中以《乌合之众》最为著名，被翻译成近二十种语言，至今仍在国际学术界有广泛影响。

吴松林，男，满族，博士、教授，东北大学英文研究生导师、东北大学秦皇岛分校语言学院院长、中国对外翻译实践基地主任，翻译界泰斗许渊冲先生关门弟子。公开出版学术图书60部，学术方向：典籍翻译。

Book Abstract

勒庞特意强调了群体感情的易变，爱与恨的犹豫不决以及它的团结和仇视态度，但是他却忽视了群体的矛盾和理想化（这时受到过分尊重的人物会变得不容批评）倾向的心理机制。
勒庞“生动描述了”群体缺乏感情约束以及它“没有中庸与三思而后行的能力”，但是他没有什么理论，使自己能够看出这是退化到某个早期阶段的结果。（甚至弗洛伊德这样的大人物有时也会不在状态。他说勒庞的退化观念不明确，这是对的。但是勒庞多次把群体所特有的冲动、“缺乏理性、缺乏判断力和批判精神、夸大感情”看成“低级进化形态的生命中的倾向，例如妇女、野蛮人和儿童”。所以他已预见到了弗洛伊德本人的错误，当他下退化到“不必奇怪可以在野蛮人或儿童身上看到的早期阶段”的结论时，很明显妇女被排除在了这个阶段之外。）
弗洛伊德错误地、有些偏激地说，勒庞没有“推测出领袖在集体心理中的重要性”，而他能够把领袖在集体行为心理过程中的强大影响力解释出来。弗洛伊德没有注意到，勒庞给英雄神话赋予了极大的重要性，这和弗洛伊德在与奥托·兰克讨论之后认为英雄神话是个人把自己从不断的集体统治中解放出来的手段相同。
