《趣味心理学》：
心理定势：谁是谁的谁？下面我们做一个实验。有一个问题：一位公安局长在路边同一位老人谈话，这时跑过来一个小孩，急促地对公安局长说：“你爸爸和我爸爸吵起来了！”老人问：“这孩子是你什么人？”公安局长说：“是我儿子。”请你回答：这两个吵架的人和公安局长是什么关系？（现场提问，看谁先得出答案）正确答案是，局长是个女的，吵架的一个是局长的丈夫，即孩子的爸爸；另一个是局长的爸爸，即孩子的外公。
为什么有些人能很快得出答案而有些人却答不出来呢？这就是心理定势的效应。按照经验，公安局长应该是男的，从男局长这个心理定势去推想，自然找不到答案；而如果没有心理定势的限制，一下子就可以找到正确答案。
心理定势指的是对某一特定活动的准备状态，它可以使我们在从事某些活动时能够相当熟练，甚至达到自动化，可节省很多时间和精力；但同时，心理定势的存在也会束缚我们的思维，使我们只习惯用常规方法去解决问题，而不会走其他“捷径”，因而也会给解决问题带来一些消极影响。在思考和解决问题时会受心理定势的影响，在人际交往、认识他人等过程中也会受心理定势的影响。
启发思考：在日常训练生活中，如何避免心理定势的消极影响？超限效应：你“被”饱和了吗？美国著名幽默作家马克·吐温有一次在教堂听牧师演讲。最初，他觉得牧师讲得很好，使人感动，准备捐款。过了10分钟，牧师还没有讲完，他有些不耐烦了，决定只捐一些零钱。又过了10分钟，牧师还没有讲完，于是他决定，1分钱也不捐。到牧师终于结束了冗长的演讲，开始募捐时，马克·吐温由于气愤，不仅未捐钱，还从盘子里拿走了2元钱。
这种刺激过多、过强和作用时间过久而引起心理极不耐烦或反抗的心理现象，称之为“超限效应”。
超限效应在部队教育中时常发生。如：进行一次思想政治教育，从传达上级文件指示精神到最后连队组织教育，如果不分重点和主次，不分对象和时机，不停地讲着相同的内容，刚开始官兵听着感觉还挺有道理，引人思考，官兵会从心里接受。但一次、二次、三次，这种相同内容的不断重复使官兵从开始的接受变得不耐烦，反感，最后到厌烦，产生你越讲我越不听的逆反心理。如对一个犯错误的战士，反复进行批评，最后导致该战士由最初的内疚到不安，最后产生抗拒心理等。
为什么会出现这样的现象呢？这是因为，人的机体在接受某种刺激过多的时候，会出现自然的逃避倾向，这是人类出于本能的一种自我保护性的心理反应。思想政治教育中的“超限效应”反映了几个问题：没有注意方式和方法、没能注意“度”的把握、没有换位思考。心理学研究表明，一般人的注意力能保持20分钟左右，超过这个时间人容易焦虑，因此教育时间不宜过长，要在前几分钟就抓住听众。在教育中，应该抓住重点信息，运用自由联想、自我暗示和想象放松技术转移注意力，过滤重复信息，避免信息超载。
启发思考：我们该如何利用超限效应？“自己人”效应：你是“自己人”吗？新兵小王入伍不久，女朋友就来信要和他分手。
此时正值新兵训练最艰苦的时期，小王很压抑，每天不吃不喝，训练心神不宁，后来干脆说自己病了不参加训练。私下里他和战友说想回家去和女朋友在一起，不想当兵了，觉得当兵没意思。指导员找他谈心，也没什么效果。万般无奈之际，指导员找到他的一个老乡，让他帮忙去做小王的思想工作。训练之余，老乡将他拉到一边聊起了家常，聊着聊着就聊到了感情问题。这位老乡说：“记得我刚入伍不久，因为新兵连管理很严，那时候电话很少，打电话不方便，写信来回时间长，有些话说不清楚，时间长了我和女朋友之间就产生了误解，闹起了别扭，最后她提出了分手。”小王听到这里，一时觉得知心人就在眼前，接着这位老乡讲述了自己当时是如何从痛苦不堪和心灰意冷中振作起来的，并介绍了一些方法。小王听后感触很深，心结打开了，很快走出了失恋的阴影，更加努力地投入到了新兵训练之中。
