2.尊重患者的生命价值这一观点是理论家watson鉴于自身的价值观、信仰以及对生命健康与康复（healing）的感悟而提出的核心观点，是存在主义现象学思想具体运用于护理人文关怀实践中的体现。她认为每个人都具有独立的尊严，都希望自身独特的价值与潜能被认可。那么，护士作为人文关怀者的目的和责任就是在特定的情景中，通过与患者的互动，帮助人在遭遇疾病痛苦而心情沮丧时认识到他的生命存在价值，使其获得精神上的愉悦与整体上的和谐，从而提高他的生存质量。实现这一理念，重要的就是护士具有职业道德体验。正如我国护理专家李小妹所言：“人文关怀是在特定的时间与情境中，人与人之间精神体验的一种道德法则，进入彼此的内心世界，人格得以升华。”同时还深刻地阐述道“人文关怀是一种以保护与促进人类健康，倡导人类尊严为目的道德观念。”概括出人文关怀的核心是关心患者的需求，尊重患者的生命价值、尊严与权利。将人文关怀界定为关心人之为人的精神问题，注重自我与他人的精神发展。然而，拥有这一理念对护士的专业素质提出了更高的要求：不仅要具有专业的知识与技能，更要具有人道主义一利他的价值观念或职业道德观念；能鼓起患者生命的信心与希望；能协助患者恢复健康并获得自护能力；能促进患者生成“坚信自身生命具有存在价值”的精神力量。可见，尊重患者的生命价值是患者从失望走向希望的力量源泉，也是护士专业素质的核心体现，更是护理人文关怀行动的灵魂所在。
