《云端时代看懂云经济理解云计算实施云战略》：
无论采用哪种方法制定战略，云计算都能发挥重要的作用。西蒙·沃德利（Simon Wardley）是一个有着遗传学背景的博学者和云博客作者，曾经是Canonical公司的战略分析师，现在是高科技系统集成与外包方面的研究员以及CSC公司著名的“前沿论坛”的顾问。他认为，早先的三种企业竞争模式——成本领先、产品差异化及以客户为中心——正被一种新竞争模式所替代，该模式能同时实现三个目标。ILC（创新一杠杆一商品化）模式的生态系统就是一个例证。在这个模式中，利用公用IT服务能大大降低公司因创新而导致失败的成本，从而鼓励创新；通过跟踪监测，该生态系统能够识别哪些活动具有扩散力；然后，把握这些具有扩散力的活动并使之商业化，从而创造能够推动整个生态体系持续增长的新的服务要素。
使用这种方法，沃德利认为，企业可以同时实现以下目标。
高度创新。推动差异化和产品创新，并将不确定性和风险置于一个更大的生态系统中。
以客户为中心。利用生态系统快速识别并支持创新活动。
高效。聚焦商品化以获取成本领先优势。
