Book Abstract

大部分单片机都需要晶振才能工作起来，晶振就像交响乐团的指挥家一样控制单片机的工作节奏。指挥家的指挥棒没起，交响乐团是不会开始演奏的，同样晶振没开始向单片机提供节奏信号，单片机也不会工作起来。在1.2节中说触发是单片机的一个重要概念，晶振就是单片机所有工作触发时序的信号源，单片机通过它所提供周期稳定的触发信号去触发程序相应操作。
不是所有的单片机都用晶振来做触发信号源，有一些场合可以用RC振荡器（有的单片机自身内部有RC振荡电路），外部接一个电阻来调节振荡频率。既然RC振荡器也可以用，为什么还要用晶振呢？原因很简单，RC振荡器所产生的频率一致性和稳定性都不好，会因为电阻电容值的误差出现比较大的偏差，电压的高低变化也会产生一定影响，晶振虽然价格要高一些，但一致性和稳定性比RC振荡器要好许多。
实际应用时应根据产品特性选择晶振或RC振荡器。如果产品对控制性能的时间精度要求并不严格，比如是一个通过按键发光发声的简单儿童玩具，就可以用RC振荡器来降低成本；但如果一个产品需要显示日期时间，用RC振荡器显然不能满足要求，一天下来误差有可能达到几分钟，所以必须用晶振，这个例子涉及累计误差的概念，2.1节将会对累计误差专门进行阐述。
既然晶振只是起到触发信号源的作用，那是不是可以用一个周期稳定的信号源来替换晶振或RC振荡器呢？适当条件下确实可以，只是这样一个信号源的实现会比用晶振的成本都要高。在我之前的产品开发经历中，就做过多个单片机只用一个晶振的产品，但不建议这么做，因为晶振对电路板走线有一定要求，控制不好容易导致晶振不起振。
是不是一个单片机想跑多快就需要晶振提供同样快的周期触发信号？无论是设计单片机芯片还是生产晶振的厂家都不希望这么做。我们知道，频率越快越难控制，也越容易被干扰，晶振作为一个外接器件，自然不希望自己被要求提供非常高的频率。频率越高，对产品电路板布线的限制就越多，产品开发、生产部门使用起来也就越麻烦，同样也不希望外接晶振跑得太快。
设计单片机芯片的厂家为我们解决了这个烦扰，他们将一种叫PLL（锁相环）的技术应用到单片机芯片内，通过这个技术将晶振的频率在单片机内部倍频，这样就可以让单片机得到比晶振高几倍甚至许多倍的工作频率。除此以外，PLL还有一个优点，单片机可以在工作中动态改变工作频率，可以利用这个特性降低功耗来提升产品性能。

一直以来，在我内心都认为传道授业是一件无上光荣的事，只可惜生来不善言辞，自然无法从事教师这个职业，而是走了一条电子技术工作的职业之路。写书是许多技术工作者的梦想，本人也不例外，然而由于受到时间、精力和观念的影响，实现这个梦想的一线技术开发人员并不多，我也是偶然有机会才写成了此书。
相对来说，我算是比较喜欢书的一类人，当年南下广东打工时，随身没带什么东西，书倒拖了一堆。对于专业方面的书，我也和大家一样常愤懑于作者的写作态度，直到看到台湾侯捷（侯俊杰）写的《深入浅出MFC》，给了我震撼，不能说是文采飞扬，但在用心程度方面，着实没有可以挑剔的地方。
毫无疑问侯捷前辈具有非常好的专业素养，我相信VC程序员技能高于他的也是大有人在，但他凭借着严谨、认真、求实的技术态度，每一点都自己进行考证，终于写出了这本我认为可以奉为经典的书。正是侯捷前辈的这本书触动了我，虽然我个人的技能水平和写作能力有限，但如果我也能像侯捷前辈那般认真，把自己以往的工作经验加以总结，是不是也有可能写出一本能够得到大家认可的书呢？
我相信做事一定要有激情，否则就会在犹豫中放弃各种想法，于是在2009年7月开始了本书的写作。一开始对书的写作并没有太多想法，只是想着这是兴趣所在，应尽量将书的内容写得全面和实用。最初大概有半个月时间，我随身带着一个小本子，只要一想到某个主题，就顺手记录到本子上，就这样得到了书的提纲和目录。
真没想到写书是如此辛苦，为了保证内容正确，就不时需要进行验证，往往只是一张简单的图表，却要另外花数小时写程序验证，慢的时候一天只能写一两页。开始写作后经常是回家就窝到计算机前，一窝就是数小时，南方的夏天比较长，就是光着膀子也是汗流浃背，现在回想起来还真有点诧异我当时的耐心。
