“二十世纪的瘟疫”来到了21世纪
10年前的2005年估计，每年全世界新发恶性肿瘤病例约1000万例，每年因患恶性肿瘤死亡600万人。而到了3年前的2012年据世界卫生组织报告：每年全世界新发恶性肿瘤病例1400万例，死亡820万人。这一严峻的形势还将持续下去，据《2014年全球癌症报告》称：到2025年，全球每年新发的恶性肿瘤病例将有可能达到2000万例，每年因恶性肿瘤而死亡的病例将达1200万，整个翻了一番。
我国的癌症问题严峻
2012年我国新发肿瘤350万例，相当于每分钟6例，死亡250万人，相当于每14秒钟死亡一人。单肺癌一病，2012年即发生60万例，死亡49万人，实在令人唏嘘不已。
正确认识癌症是“慢性病”
战略上藐视可以，在战术上却是应该重视的。癌症里面的确是有慢性的，甚至连名称上都标着了：慢性白血病。慢性白血病可以十来年没有变化。宫颈癌从最初的癌变发展为浸润癌，也可能需要十来年的时光。一些在老人体内潜在的甲状腺癌、前列腺癌等，也确实可能终身不发作，或是进展极为缓慢，未及发作，病人已经因为其他疾病作古了。但是 “急性白血病”可就不慢了，许多常见癌症，如肺癌、肝癌、肠癌之类，一旦发病，如无有效治疗，往往发展很快。对于大多数的癌症，尚不能以“只是一种慢性病”，而掉以轻心。
癌症的高危对象
肺癌：吸烟的人，特别是吸烟量大和吸烟史长久（勃氏吸烟指数：每日吸烟支数X吸烟史年数大于400支年）的人，工作或生活中接触石棉或放射性氡等物质的人。
肝癌：曾感染过乙型或丙型肝炎病毒，尤其是患慢性乙型或丙型肝炎及肝硬化的人。
胃癌：患慢性萎缩性胃炎并伴有胃粘膜“肠化”及不典型增生的人，患有胃息肉、经久不愈的胃溃疡及曾作胃大部切除的人。
肠癌：患有家族性大肠腺瘤性息肉症、肠息肉、克隆氏病的人。
乳腺癌：患囊性乳腺病者、月经来潮早于12岁、绝经晚于52岁、终身未婚未育及直系亲属中有人患乳癌的妇女。
宫颈癌：早婚、多产、多性伴侣及遭某些类型的人乳头状瘤病毒长期感染的人。

8.食物中的添加剂、农药及其他残留物的水平应控制在安全限量以下，并有一定的监督管理。
9.建议不饮酒。
10.一般无须服用营养补充剂。
11.如果所从事的工作体力活动量较低，每天宜快走或类似的活动1小时，或每周有1小时较为剧烈的运动。
12.避免体重过低或超重。
