作者介紹肯．羅賓森

這是一場由下而上的草根革命

閱讀肯・羅賓森的《讓天賦發光》這本新書，我的感慨跟別人很不相同。

約莫五年前，我帶著肯・羅賓森《讓天賦自由》一書，去拜訪教育部的首長。當時的我認為，如果能夠讓世界級的教育專家，將全世界教育現場改變的現況反映給政府、提醒政府，那就是更好的教育改革方向，如果政府能夠進一步直接被這本書說服，那我就不需要再採取什麼行動了。

後來，我發現我這個想法有點天真！因為，教育的問題，從來都不是專屬於哪一位首長在任的問題。一來，我們的教育政策並不寬鬆；再來，不論大學教育或一般教育，政府都以公平為最高考量，進而利用考試成績來衡量所有孩子的能力，並以各種方法管制老師的教學內容。也因此，從肯・羅賓森的書來看，所有從上而下的改革都是不可能成功的！

過去幾年，我出了兩本跟教育相關的書。從《讓天賦發光》一書的全球高度來看，我感到非常意外，原來過去我在書中所描繪的現象，並非台灣獨有，而是普世皆然的問題。也就是說，每個國家為了公平起見、建立清楚的管制，都採用標準化的教育。現在這種死背式的教育，或者我所提到的代工式訓練，都非常容易被開發中國家，或經濟比較弱勢的國家取代。因為只要有工資更便宜的地方存在，有一天，中國也可能會被孟加拉取代、孟加拉也可能會被非洲的某一個國家取代，這是非常反映世界真實面貌的問題，台灣亦是如此。

你就是教育系統

由於政府難以從上而下進行改革，因此，在我的上一本書《你就是改變的起點》，我就將責任指回老師與家長的身上。

教改必須走到基層，必須以老師和校長的角色，去觀察自己的系統需要面對怎麼樣的改變。以前我一直希望影響政府，認為只要決策者的眼光正確就能帶來改變，但是經過幾年來的實地歷練，我發現事實並非如此，而是「你就是改變的起點」。肯・羅賓森讓我再度印證，這不只是台灣的問題，而是全世界的問題。

這是全世界官僚體制的問題，以及隱藏在官僚體制背後的力量的問題，我在《教育應該不一樣》一書中就提醒「醒醒吧，家長！你就是扼殺子女的天賦的殺手。」家長與選民，是影響教育及政府政策的最大力量。

從整體社會來看教育問題，書中還提到一個很重要的觀念，那就是「社會排除」現象(social exclusion)。也就是我所謂的「弱勢翻身的機會消失了」。

一部份的人擁有某些能力或資源之後，就會試圖排除其他人。例如，貧富差距變大了，受困於貧窮與匱乏的孩子就愈多；都市資源多了，偏鄉的問題就被忽略了，都市人也就期待大家都照他那一套標準做事。

肯・羅賓森強調，教育是非常草根性的，不再是從國家整體或全世界的角度來進行。如果說，你是卑南鄉的老師，你就要和阿美族的老師不一樣；如果你是蘭嶼或阿里山上的校長，你就要和當地的學校及社群互動，從中找到自己的優勢。一方面你可以連結主流和全球的價值，但是更應該關注於找到在地的優勢、形成草根性的革命或改變。

你必須知道世界的發展，但也一定要找到自己的優點。一個國家如此、一個地區如此，個人更是如此。如果你只能看到別人的能力，而別人的能力卻可能是你的弱點，那麼你就會永遠浸泡在沒有自信的痛苦裡。

找到自己的優點或在地的優勢，從中萃取出可以連結社會、走向世界的能力，或者當國際人士走進來時，你要有能力表現自己，這樣就能面對國際的挑戰。
