安德烈•库尔科夫（Andrej Kurkow），1961年出生于圣彼得堡，幼年时迁居基辅。从六岁就开始提笔创作，嗜好是收集仙人掌。基辅大学就学期间主修外语，以俄语写作，并精通英文、日语等十一种语言。曾当过记者、编辑、监狱警卫，后来成为电影摄影师，写过无数剧本，第一部小说获得俄罗斯书卷奖，作品被翻译成三十七种语言，在全球六十五个国家、地区出版。现定居基辅。

Book Abstract

米沙是一年前住进他家的。那时动物园正在分送动物，将饥肠辘辘的动物送给能喂饱它们的人。

维克托去了动物园，回家时便多了一只企鹅。

他前一周才被女友抛弃，觉得很寂寞，但米沙也有它自己的孤单，于是就这样互相寂寞着。

先是一颗石头落在维克托脚边，离他不到一米。他回头看，只见两个蠢蛋对他冷笑，其中一人弯腰从龟裂的石子路上捡了另一颗石头，像玩滚石子游戏似的朝他抛来。维克托加快脚步绕过街角，告诉自己千万不能跑。他回到住处街上，抬头看了时钟，九点整。没有声音，也没有人追来。他走进公寓，心里已经不再害怕。那些老百姓已经支付不起一般的娱乐了。生活那么无聊，他们只好开始丢石子。

维克托打开厨房灯，灯还没亮就熄了。他们把电停了，说断就断。黑暗中，他听见企鹅米沙不疾不徐的脚步声。

轰的一声枪响。

维克托冲到窗边，脸贴着玻璃往外看。什么都没有。他回到桌前，刚才的枪声已经给了他一个灵感。不过就那么一页，没再多了。他刚为自己最新的极短篇小说划上可悲的句点，电就来了，天花板的灯泡亮得刺眼。维克托吹熄蜡烛，从冰箱拿了一条青鳕鱼放进米沙碗里。

隔天早上，他将昨天的极短篇小说打成白纸黑字后就告别米沙出门了。头一站是一家新成立的冤大头报社。他们什么都刊登，从食谱到后苏联时代的戏剧评论一概不拒绝。他认识报社的总编辑，偶尔会相约喝个烂醉，再由总编的司机开车送他回家。

总编辑笑脸相迎，拍了拍他的肩膀，吩咐秘书去泡咖啡，接着便恢复编辑本色，拿起维克托的大作品评一番。

读完之后他说：“不行啊，兄弟。别误会，但这篇文章真的不行，需要再血腥十倍，或来点畸恋什么的。别忘了报纸的短篇文章就是要腥膻色啊！”

维克托没等咖啡来就离开了。

《首都新闻报》的办公室就在附近。那里的编辑部没有维克托的熟人，于是他便到艺文部试试手气。

年纪颇大的助理编辑亲切地说：“我们其实不登文学作品的，但你还是把小说留下来吧，谁晓得会怎样？说不定某个周五能见报，你知道，为了平衡版面。读者看了太多坏消息会想来一点清淡的，至少我就会。”

说完那小老头递了一张名片给他，就回到堆满稿子的桌前坐下。维克托这时才发现对方根本没请他进办公室，两人是在门口聊的。

两天后，电话响了。

“这里是《首都新闻报》，抱歉打扰您了，”女人的声音，语气清脆利落，“我们的总编辑在线，想跟您谈谈。”

某人接过话筒。

“维克托·阿列克谢耶维奇吗？”一个男的问道。“你能不能今天来我们这里一趟？还是没空？”

“我有空。”维克托说。

“那我派车去接你，蓝色的日古利。告诉我地址。”

维克托报完地址，总编辑说了一句“待会儿见”就挂了电话，连名字也没说。

维克托打开衣橱挑选衬衫，心想报社找他是不是为了那篇小说。概率不高……那篇小说对他们能有什么用处？不过，管他的！

蓝色日古利就停在公寓入口。司机很客气，将他载到报社去见总编辑。

总编辑看起来不像跑新闻的人，反倒像上年纪的运动员。也许真的是。不过他眼神里的嘲讽还是骗不了人。那种神情只可能出于智慧与学问，不可能来自成天泡在健身房的人。

“坐吧。要来点干邑白兰地吗？”他一边说着，一边像主人似的挥手要维克托坐下。

“可以的话，我想来点咖啡。”维克托说着在面对大办公桌的一张皮椅上坐了下来。

“两杯咖啡，”总编辑拿起电话交代一句，接着亲切地说，“你知道吗，我们前几天才聊到你，结果我们的艺文助理编辑鲍里斯·莱昂纳多维奇昨天就拿了你写的小文章来找我，要我读读看。我看了，写得很不错，看完忽然想起之前为什么会聊到你，就觉得我们应该见个面。”

维克托客气地点了点头，伊戈尔·罗夫维奇露出微笑。

“维克托·阿列克谢耶维奇，”他接着说，“你要不要来我们这里工作？”

“写什么？”维克托问，心里暗自担忧又要重拾记者的苦力生活了。

伊戈尔·罗夫维奇正想解释，秘书就端着咖啡和一罐糖进来了。罗夫维奇闭上嘴巴，直到秘书走了才开口。

“这件事是最高机密，”他说，“我们正在找一名文笔出众的讣闻记者，专门写一些漂亮文章。你懂我的意思吗？”他满脸期待望着维克托。

“不是，当然不是！你做的事比这个更有趣、更有责任。你的工作是无中生有编出一篇缅怀文，我们称之为讣闻，对象从官员、帮派分子到文化界人士都有，反正就是那些人，而且在他们还活着的时候写。但我希望能用前所未有的方式来描绘死去的人。你的小说让我觉得你就是最佳人选。”

“薪水呢？”

“起薪三百元，工时由你自己决定。当然你得让我知道你挑了谁，免得害我们哪天在路上被车撞了还不晓得。喔，还有一个要求，你得用假名。这样对你、对大家都好。”

“什么假名？”维克托问。他说这话一半在问伊戈尔，一半问自己。

“你自己想。要是想不出来，就先用一群老友吧。”

维克托点点头。
