在处理大量数据的时候，人们总是希望能够迅速而准确地得到所需要的结果，提高工作效率，而公式与函数正是提高Excel处理数据效率的一个重要工具。利用公式与函数可以更加方便地处理各种工作表。在使用Excel的公式与函数之前，应该对公式和函数的一些基本操作常识有所掌握。
1．1 Excel公式基础知识
1．1．1 公式的组成要素
Excel公式的共同特点是以“=”号开头，后面可以跟由运算符连接起来的常量、单元格引用、区域名称或者工作表函数。可以在公式中使用的元素有：
(1)常量：可以是数字或文本，例如“8”或者“销售额”。
(2)运算符：Excel包含算术运算符、比较运算符、文本运算符和引用运算符四种类型的运算符。
(3)单元格引用：它包括单个的单元格或多个单元格组成的范围。这些单元格或范围可以是同一工作表中的，也可以是同一工作簿其他工作表中的，甚至是其他工作簿工作表中的。
(4)区域名称：可以直接为区域定义名称。例如使用“销售额”来代替表示销售额的区
域F4：J8。
(5)工作表函数：可以是Excel内置的函数，如SUM或MAX，也可以是自定义的函数。
1．1．2公式的输入与编辑
Excel的公式以“=”开头，因而输入公式时只需要选中单元格，输入“=，系统就会认为正在输入一个公式，例如输入：
=5+6
按回车键，则显示：
输入公式时也可以以“+”或“一”(正负号)开始，输入完毕按回车键系统会自动加入一个“=”号，并且正负号会参与运算。例如，输入：
一5+6
按回车键，则显示：
公式的修改只需要选中公式并在编辑栏中修改或双击公式所在的单元格即可。而公式的移动和复制涉及到单元格引用的问题，比较复杂，将在后面详细说明。
