Book Abstract

Lightroom是一款数码后期处理软件，但是，你在Lightroom里处理的对象是前期拍摄的结果。虽然我们在这里着重的是后期操作，然而我们不能忘记通过相机获得照片的过程。理解所谓前期与后期之间的联系，一方面能够让你从更深的层面上认识数码后期处理的必要性，另一方面对于获得一张出色的照片也具有重要的意义。
2.1照片是如何获得的
网络上有一种趋势，即将前期和后期完全割裂开来。有些人强调前期的价值，认为只有机内直出的照片才是“真正的”照片；而有些人则认为任何事情都可以通过后期的魔法来实现，前期根本就不重要。这两种说法都不客观。并不是我要采取两面不得罪的折中态度，而是因为，数码成像的原理决定前期和后期在一张照片的形成过程中都发挥了相应的作用。你注意到我之前在前期和后期之前加上了“所谓”这个定语。这在提醒你，我对于前期和后期的定义并不完全赞同。事实上，你很难确切地去划分前期和后期的过程。随着学习的深入，你会更深地理解这句话的意思。
先让我们简单了解一下数码照片的成像原理。当我们举起相机面对某个场景的时候，光线透过镜头投射到感光元件上。感光元件具有两个主要的作用：第一，它感受相应区域光线强度的不同；第二，它把感受到的光信号转变为可以被记录和读取的电信号。事实上，数码成像的核心与胶片并无二至，关键依然是记录下光线的明暗改变。不同的是，在胶片成像中，这种明暗改变通过银盐颗粒的形式被保存下来；而在数码成像中，这种明暗改变通过电子信号的形式被记录下来（见图2—1）。
如果硬要区分前期和后期，那么我更愿意把前期理解为记录光线信号的单纯过程，但是这绝不等同于“直出”。感光元件记录的原始信号被称为RAW文件。RAW文件是无法被直接观看的，它必须通过一些方法进行解码和润色，才能转换为我们所能观看的照片。而这个在RAW文件下游进行的操作，显然应该属于“后期”的范畴。问题在于，这些下游操作，既可能发生于Lightroom这样的后期制作软件中，也可能发生于相机内。
