二十年的等待

寫到最後，我感覺我扛不起這擔子。我擔心，這本書可能會被我搞砸，可能會因為我的某一句、某一字不夠精確，讓全台灣的鋒迷失望。我一直思索著如何避免這事發生。

我太在意想把壘上跑者送回來得分，卻忽略了當下應該專注馬上要揮擊的來球。以致於，第一個版本就像是「會議記錄」，它忠實地傳達陳金鋒想要講的內容，卻毫無感情。或是說，我沒有放感情書寫。我想著，我是否徹底讓陳金鋒失望了。

二○一六年下半年接到金鋒電話，那時候的他，準備退休，手機那頭還是一貫地客氣、有禮，問我有沒有空幫他個忙。出版社想為他出類似自傳的書，需要人整理代筆，他說，「想來想去，還是林大哥你最合適」。

我的回答很直接，我對著手機中氣十足地說，「我也覺得我最合適」，而且，「這是我的榮幸」。我心裡想，是啊，二十年的等待，時候到了。

台灣的棒球環境中，從前沒有、短期內也很難再有一位像他一樣，可以讓全台灣看到他就像是看到「希望」的球員。但他，又在表達內心事時，有自己的特色和邏輯。

從頭找回一投一打間的溫度，找回「球感」不是難題，難的是九一八退休這晚，我一語不發地在一壘側仔細品味著全場對他退休的不捨，卻又不解，「滅火器」樂團主唱為何淚流滿面，哭著唱完〈曾經瘋（鋒）狂〉？

是啊，那個遇大事就特別冷靜的我，又出現了。新聞事件愈大，我愈是冷靜到可怕，不論是天災人禍、重大國際賽，或是那種必須要在陌生國度隨時決斷以呈現新聞場景的場合。

918，我也跟著激動起來了嗎？不能。我不應該。愈是這時候，我愈要專注在觀察所有可能的細節。

我錯了。我錯在太冷靜，我無法體會鋒迷所能經驗到的激動，以及那些激動所帶出的感動。

我設想，這若是比賽，我就是投手，他仍是台灣的「不動第四棒」，這場文字上的「投打對決」，能不能記錄這過程？若可以，它能帶給大家的又是什麼？

既是投手，我要有夠快的直球，我也必須要有配球策略，必要時端出有時間差或是高低差的變化球。

陳金鋒是個認真的球員，而我就必須更努力。大家最感興趣的問題上，我不斷射出火辣的快速球，我們約定好，不能因為怕得罪人而迴避，這也就有他以副領隊身分觀察林哲瑄與林益全社群媒體上衝突事件的看法。陳金鋒重隱私，但家庭生活有一定的吸引力，所以配球策略是要請「鋒嫂」林右璇加入討論，大兒子陳瑞陽的運動會這一章，應運而生。

球迷印象深刻的是他在國際賽痛搥日本隊大咖投手達比修有、上原浩治等人，我雖在這本書誕生過程中客串投手，但該削到好球帶邊緣後進壘的時候，我也沒手軟。在〈918這天有人不爽穿52號球衣〉這一章，就重現了許多江湖事。

「天下文化」及經紀公司在籌畫之初曾建議，市面上談陳金鋒的文章、訪問已經夠多了，球迷對他締造過的紀錄如數家珍，對他從小到大的棒球成長過程也不陌生，這本特別的書，應加入他在中華職棒十一年的點點滴滴，卻又不該繞著棒球紀錄打轉。

這相當於場上打者還差一支三壘安打，就能湊成「完全打擊」。但三壘安打最難出現；它飛太遠就是全壘打，它既要是安打，又不能太短，還須借用快腿上到三壘，前思後想，於是有了〈想打，卻打不出的全壘打〉這一章，回憶旅美返台的中職首戰亂揮大棒，只為了能為前一天不幸過世的阿叔陳慶堂留下一顆全壘打紀念球，目的是讓更多年輕世代讀者體會陳金鋒十餘年前的那段心情。

之所以有這本書，在於金鋒願意在人生的轉折處稍停下來，分享自己的故事。分享過程中，右璇提供了協助及關鍵時畫龍點睛的決定。她說，她對這本書的期待是，「我們沒有什麼好留給孩子，看看是否能用這本書，讓孩子知道自己的爸爸曾經做過什麼事」。

採訪之前、書寫期中，請教我的另一半王芬蘭。她看棒球賽有時會弄錯出局數、比數，也常把陳金鋒一棒打爆對手的行徑形容為「土匪」，她是專業社工師，專長是讓別人講心底話。這本書的採訪策略由她擬定，目的是讓此時想講話的人，暢所欲言並言之有物。

她建議，從「社會角色」、「棒球路上每個決定歷程」、「因為棒球，失去什麼」等「心理動力」相關題目多面向切入，才能讓球迷見到輪廓更清晰的陳金鋒。

本書共同作者李碧蓮在先發投手與強打者對決時，提供更寬廣面向的指引並在重點處精細對焦，她也隨時牛棚待命並適時出場救援，補上關鍵提問。初稿完成後，她的核稿功夫也讓內容更緊實。

對了，狠批我的首稿像是「會議記錄」的，也是她。要不是她，今天看到的就真的是「鋒哥對談紀錄」了。媒體同業清楚，寫陳金鋒新聞，要靠天助，因為他話精、話少，一般來說，擠出六百字就可以偷笑並足以交差。天下文化的朋友給我的任務卻是至少六萬字，連鋒嫂都一度以同情的眼光看著我說，「他話這麼少，真的寫得出來嗎？」

書稿大致成型，金鋒的經紀公司怎麼看，讓我忐忑頗久。交稿後首度碰面，展逸國際行銷公司張家銘兄劈頭就說，「以君哥，我停不下來」。我一楞、一揪心。家銘繼續說，「收到電子檔，一整晚就這麼在手機上一口氣讀完」。

家銘從小就是鐵桿鋒迷，他自認沒漏接過任何鋒哥的新聞，工作上和鋒哥接觸頻率也比一般人更多，但本書部分內容還是他第一次看到。這說明了一件事，鋒哥的確認真地分享了他的故事，一如他在球場上的每次揮擊、跑動。

二十四年的媒體職涯，我寫過曾讓自己流淚的新聞，能否感動自己，是檢視作品能否感動讀者的第一步。這次，我也以冷靜慣了的自己當試驗品。嗯，那些聽到陳金鋒退休就想流淚的人，確實，哭得有道理。
